I get asked a lot about my storage ideas and collection of makeup. I have changed my storage and method of organization ten times over! I am HUGE on mason jars. HUGE. I am in love with Pinterest and pretty much repin any mason jar DIY project I see. Well, I got inspired again to do the Sephora-inspired brush holder that has been a favourite of so many makeup lovers.
Here is a quick DIY that you can do with handy things you may have in your kitchen.
- 1-3 jars (mason or other decorative glass jars)
- Coarse Sea Salt
- Dry short grain rice (I prefer white because of the look)
- Ribbon, lace, paint-- or whatever else you'd like to use to decorate your jars!
I mixed 1/3 of rice to salt as a ratio. I found that this keeps the brushes very sturdy and will stop clumping in the mix.
You can use just rice, however I wouldn't recommend the salt only, since I found it a little too hard to stick the brushes in otherwise.
This craft took me a short 10 minutes, and I is a classy touch instead of a regular jar to hold my makeup brushes. I think it would also be a beautiful DIY gift for someone else. So super cheap if you can't find the acrylic beads, and this mix wont scratch your brushes like the ground glass filler.
